Remove Silence from Video: Free Automatic Jump Cut Editor
Drop in a talking-head video, a lecture or a meeting recording and ClipCut finds every pause and cuts it out for you, leaving a tight jump-cut edit. Choose how long a pause has to be and how noisy the background is. It runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded.
0.5 s gives a fast, punchy jump cut. 1 s keeps natural pacing.
Pick Noisy if there is music, a fan or street noise, so it still counts as a pause.
A short breath is kept around every cut so speech never sounds clipped.
How to use the Silence Remover

Hours of editing in one click
Cutting pauses by hand means scrubbing through every second of a recording. The silence remover listens to the whole soundtrack, finds every gap longer than the length you choose and removes them all in one pass.
Natural, not choppy
A short breath is kept on each side of every cut, so words are never clipped. Choose 0.5 seconds for a fast, punchy YouTube or TikTok style, or 1 to 2 seconds to keep a relaxed pace.
Free and private
Dedicated silence-cutting apps are usually paid downloads, and most online editors upload your video to their servers. ClipCut does it in your browser for free, with no watermark.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove silence from a video automatically?
Drop the video in, keep the default settings and press Remove silence. Every pause longer than one second is cut out and the rest is joined together.
What is a jump cut?
A jump cut removes the gaps between sentences so the speaker goes straight to the next line. It keeps viewers watching and is the standard style on YouTube, TikTok and Reels.
It missed some pauses. What should I change?
If there is background music, a fan or room noise, choose Noisy so quieter moments still count as pauses. A shorter pause length also removes more.
How long does it take?
Finding the pauses is quick. Removing them re-encodes the video, so long or high resolution videos take longer, and a computer is faster than a phone. Videos above 1080p are saved at up to 1920 pixels on the long side to keep it fast.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Pauses are found and removed in your browser, so your video never leaves your device.
